Westmalle's new blond: Extra and Tripel blended, on draught only.

Legend has it

The Trappists live by the Rule of St Benedict, and Benedict had a sister, Scholastica. A later tradition makes them twins. Once a year they met in a house near his monastery. At their last meeting she asked him to stay the night, but he refused, because his own Rule forbade it. So she prayed, and a violent storm broke. Benedict could not leave, and they talked the whole night through. Three days later she died.

Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.

Interesting facts

The first cask
The first cask of Duo was tapped on 3 March 2025 at Café Trappisten, right by the abbey at Westmalle.
Never bottled
Duo is sold on draught only. It is a limited edition because the Extra, one of the two beers in the blend, is brewed less often than the Tripel.
Six hops
It is hopped with six varieties of European hops and is not pasteurised.
Especially good with

Cheese croquette, mussels with white wine, lemon & parsley.

Frequently asked questions

(More frequently asked questions)

Can I taste several beers at once?

Yes, with the beer box you pick six beers from our 24 taps, served in smaller tasting glasses. The staff are happy to help you put your flight together.

Do you serve every beer in its proper glass?

Yes, just like in Belgium. Each brewery designs glassware to lift precisely their beer, and almost every beer here is served in its proper glass.

Does the beer selection change, or is it always the same?

Both: taps 1-16 are our permanent draughts, always on, while taps 17-24 are rotating guest taps, each beer stays on until the keg runs dry, then a new one takes its place. New bottles also arrive in the bottle cellar all the time. See what's pouring right now →
