La Trappe Tripel
Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven, Berkel-Enschot
Golden tripel from Koningshoeven, the Trappist abbey in the Netherlands.
Legend has it
It is often said that Trappist monks take a vow of silence. They do not. Trappists vow stability, fidelity to monastic life and obedience, but not silence. They do speak only when needed, eat in silence while someone reads aloud, and keep the Great Silence from evening until morning. To get by without words they developed a sign language of their own, still used in monasteries in China, Japan and the United States, among others.
Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.
