Taste profile
Legend has it
Mechelen has a wooden doll called Op-Signoorke. He is said to be the drunkard who beats his wife, and in the town's processions he is tossed high in a large cloth as punishment. As the story goes, in the procession of 1775 he flew straight into the crowd, and a man from Antwerp put up his hands so the doll would not land on his head. The people of Mechelen thought he was stealing it and gave him a sound beating. Ever since, the doll has carried Mechelen's nickname for Antwerpers: sinjoor.
Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.
