Legend has it

Witbier has its own origin legend. According to the Hoegaarden brewery, the monks of the village of Hoegaarden were the first to hit on the recipe for wheat beer, around 1445. Nobody knows for sure. What is known is that the village's last white-beer brewery closed in 1957, and that a milkman, Pierre Celis, revived the style ten years later. It was probably he who first spiced it with coriander and orange peel, as Vedett does today.

Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.

The name
Duvel Moortgat has brewed Vedett since 1945, but the beer only got the name Vedett in 1965.
A second life
From 2003 the brewery gave the brand a new, younger image, and Vedett became a trendy lager.

Extra White was launched in July 2008.

Do you serve every beer in its proper glass?

Yes, just like in Belgium. Each brewery designs glassware to lift precisely their beer, and almost every beer here is served in its proper glass.

Does the beer selection change, or is it always the same?
