Tilquin Oude Sureau à l'Ancienne
Gueuzerie Tilquin, Bierghes
Elderberries on lambic, from Wallonia's only blendery.
Legend has it
Elder is no brewery invention but an old household plant. Its flowers and berries were folk remedies for fever and colds, and in Nordic folklore the Elder Mother, the spirit of the tree, watches over it: cut an elder down without asking leave and it goes badly for you. So the elder was left standing by the house. Putting its berries into lambic is unusual, but the plant has been within arm's reach the whole time.
Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.
