3 Fonteinen Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston
Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen, Beersel
Father and son on the label, old geuze from Beersel.
Legend has it
On the morning of 16 May 2009 Armand Debelder walked into the warehouse and met a wall of heat. A thermostat had stuck and left a hot-air blower running until it was around 60°C inside. The bottles began to explode. Some 13,000 burst and tens of thousands more were ruined. It very nearly took the brewery with it. It was fellow brewers rather than banks who helped him back, and the damaged beer was distilled into an eau de vie of geuze.
Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.
