Duvel 666
Duvel Moortgat, Breendonk
Duvel's lighter sibling, six hop varieties, devilishly drinkable.
Taste profile
Legend has it
After the First World War the Moortgat family named their strong blond Victory Ale. But as the story goes, a shoemaker called Van de Wouwer tasted it in 1923 and cried out 'Dit is een echte duivel!', this is a real devil. The name stuck, which was no obvious choice in Catholic Flanders.
The 6.66% is a nod to that story: the number, of course, is the devil's.
Beer stories travel from brewery to bar to guest, and rarely shrink on the way.
